I was telling my dad how I was looking for an old 10 speed to fix up.  The one I have is working well (ROOLD Mixte), but I wanted to get one a bit bigger.  He told me he still had his old one from when we used to live in Sioux Falls.  It has been sitting in his shop for around 16 years, gathering dust.  He carried it out (since it wouldn’t roll very well) and we threw it in the back of the pickup to take down to Vermillion in order to clean up.

It needed new tires and a good cleaning, so I picked up some tires, chain oil, and a couple of minor tools and got to work.  After wiping it down, I took the wheels off and cleaned them up.  Then I changed the tires.  It was all quite a mess, but nothing was so bad that it wasn’t salvageable (except the tires of course).  At least it was stored in doors!

Thanks to Sharon’s help, serving as a bike stand, it was ready to go in a couple of hours.

Sharon and I went for a bike ride and rewarded ourselves with some dinner.

After it was all done, Sharon pointed out that we now own 5 bikes.  /sigh.  Craigslist, here we come.
